Stephen creates work with text, letter press and fabrics, which often express his frustrations around his lack of independence, and the sometimes poor support he receives from the care sector.

Stephen has shown work at Leeds Town Hall and Central Library. His work formed part of the Hidden Art / Hidden Artists show at The Tetley, and he took part in the ‘Exchange 62’ residency programme.

As a long-standing member of Pyramid’s Ribblehead Group, he has contributed to group projects shown in galleries and cultural events across Leeds.

During his time with the BEYOND Artist Development Scheme, Stephen explored how he could combine the visual elements of his particular enthusiasms, such as Manchester United, with his self-expression. He worked alongside artists Alice Burford, Christian Lloyd and Carl McCarron and made use of the facilities at Leeds Print Workshop. His solo exhibition was held for two weeks in July 2022 at Archive Leeds.
