BEYOND Festival Launch @ Studio 24

You are invited to join us at the delightful Studio 24 to celebrate the start of BEYOND 2018.

Plan your festival and find out about all the brilliant events happening over the next fortnight. There’ll be artwork to look at, workshops to take part in and performances to watch. Meet the artists, have a drink and enjoy being part of the best festival in Leeds.

Practically Theatre has worked in collaboration with The Clown Space to devise Clowning Around; a playful theatre performance exploring what we do (and do not) find funny!

Practically Theatre works with performers with learning disabilities devising
theatre. The skills and ideas of the individual performers create the performances you see. The company has spent eight weeks working with The Clown Space to create this work, investigating what makes us laugh in the hope it will amuse you too!

Join the performers on a journey through play, laughter, failure and fun. “Laughing is easy, you open your mouth and go HA HA HA!”

A celebration of inclusive dance groups from Yorkshire and beyond.

Expressions showcases the work of community and professional inclusive dance groups from across the Yorkshire region and beyond. As the only event of its kind in Leeds, Expressions gives talented disabled dancers the chance to perform on a professional stage.

This year, Expressions welcomes Casson & Friends, a record-breaking dance theatre company creating work which focuses on collaboration, interaction and joy.
They will be performing their fun, family adventure, Night at the Theatre. Alongside Casson & Friends, we will be showcasing the exciting work of Opening Doors from Malta, TIN Arts and Northern Ballet’s very own Ability.

Interactive performance with storytelling, music and movement at a museum.

The Eden group from Pyramid of Arts present A Journey Through the Mills, an interactive performance inspired by Armley Mills. This performances uses the sounds, sights, and stories of Armley Mills to tell the tale of the area’s history, and what the site means to people today.

We invite you to enjoy music, movement, and storytelling, all written and performed by the Eden group. Join us as we re-imagine what life was like as a mill worker, and tell the stories long hidden within the mill’s walls.

NB This event is not ticketed but there is an entry fee to the museum.  £4 adults, £3.20 concessions, £2 children.  Carers free.

A retelling of Tarzan, designed to stimulate all your senses.

Tarzanne tells the story of a young girl lost to the jungle as a toddler, growing up with an adoptive family of apes. Join us at Interplay, the National Sensory Theatre, come inside our immersive 360° dome, and discover Tarzanne’s journey from the lush forests that raised her to the concrete jungle of her wealthy family in the Victorian world.  Will they be able to civilise this feral child?
